Filing walkthroughs

Open a platform, follow the checklist.

Click a platform to reveal its official report form and the fields to fill in. The numbered checklist is the same evidence the platform's reviewers check, so numbering them helps reviewers match your submission to the policy line by line.

Where to file

Submit through the YouTube Copyright webform (available to logged-in account holders); include the specific video URL(s) and a description of the original work. Trademarks use a separate trademark webform on the same help center.

Fields to fill in

  1. 01Direct link to the allegedly infringing video

One URL per line — the webform rejects vague location descriptions.

  2. 02Time stamps for the infringing segment

e.g. "3:42–4:17" and the matching URL fragment the segment lives at.

  3. 03Still frame or transcript snippet

Pinpoints the infringing segment beat-for-beat so reviewers do not have to scrub.

  4. 04Link to your authorized copy

Your channel, the publisher’s official upload, or a released source.

  5. 05Proof of rights or authorization

A publishing contract excerpt, Content-ID ownership proof, or a signed statement naming you as the authorized agent.

  6. 06Your contact details and perjury statement

Full legal name, country, email, and the typed signature (typed names are accepted on the webform).

Tips

  • Sign in to your YouTube account before opening the webform — the copyright form requires an authenticated session.
  • Use the impersonation webform (separate URL) if the issue is a channel posing as you, not a video reupload.
  • Keep the confirmation email — it is your filing record and the case ID you reference on any follow-up.
